Bathhouse Flatiron
New York City, New York
Bathhouse Flatiron transforms a 35,000-square-foot subterranean parking garage into a wellness sanctuary guided by light. The lighting design mirrors the hero's journey—a descent into transformation through thermal pools, saunas, and treatment rooms. Backlit portals mark the threshold between worlds, a pulsing glow beckons beyond, repeated slot lighting guides visitors, and glowing rotundas create landmarks in windowless depths. Dim levels and grazed textures establish a moody, surreal atmosphere softened by playful water reflections. Visitors are bathed in dynamic color, as well as caustics. Every lit moment choreographs discovery, endurance, and ultimately rejuvenation—a complete sensory journey orchestrated through light.
